One catch in season finale
Amendola caught one of two targets for six yards during Sunday's 37-35 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: Amendola was largely forgettable on a day during which Marvin Jones dusted the Vikings for 180 yards and two touchdowns. While the veteran will nonetheless finish his age-34 campaign with a career-high 13.1 yards per reception, Amendola also failed to reach pay dirt all year and he's yet to eclipse 700 receiving yards in his 12 years as a pro. Regardless of where the impending free agent signs this offseason, Amendola seems to have an uphill battle to reclaim fantasy relevance at this stage in…read more

Team-high seven targets
Amendola caught five of seven targets for 37 yards during Saturday's 47-7 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Although Amendola again finished third in playing time among Lions wide receivers behind Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu, the former saw as many targets as the latter two combined and ultimately finished the day with a team-high 37 receiving yards, which tells you all you need to know about how the Lions' passing game performed in a game where Matthew Stafford (ankle) left early due to injury. It will be hard to trust any Lions pass catcher Week 17 against Minnesota if Stafford can't play.

Operates as No. 3 receiver
Amendola caught three of four targets for 20 yards during Sunday's 46-25 loss to Tennessee.
Analysis: Amendola finished fourth on the team in targets on a day Marvin Jones (12 targets) stole the show. While it seems unlikely that Kenny Golladay (hip) returns to the field this season, Amendola has been passed over for the No. 2 role by mid-season acquisition Mohamed Sanu (five targets) and isn't seeing enough volume to be worthy of fantasy consideration -- especially if Detroit chooses to sit quarterback Matthew Stafford for the final two games of the season.

Again plays less than Sanu
Amendola caught six of seven targets for 66 yards during Sunday's 31-24 loss to Green Bay.
Analysis: Amendola (51 percent of the snaps) once again saw less playing time than Mohamed Sanu (60 percent). While he still outproduced his slightly younger counterpart, who has caught four passes for 73 yards over the past two games compared to nine catches and 128 yards for Amendola, both could be in for a downturn in production if Matthew Stafford (ribs) needs to miss time. Amendola's role in the slot makes him less vulnerable to a loss of playing time if Kenny Golladay (hip) is able to return,…read more

Three catches in return from hip injury
Amendola caught three of five targets for 62 yards during Sunday's 34-30 victory over Chicago.
Analysis: Logging 49 percent of the offensive snaps in his return from a hip injury, the 35-year-old saw slightly less playing time than usual as interim head coach and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell handed the 31-year-old Mohamed Sanu 59 percent of the snaps. While the impending return of Kenny Golladay (hip) eventually will reduce the amount of playing time available to both of these veterans, Amendola's stock will fall further if he has to share the No. 3 role behind Golladay and Marvin Jones,…read more

Logs full practice Thursday
Amendola (hip) practiced in full Thursday, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: After missing two games due to a hip injury, Amendola has put himself in a position to return with Thursday's uncapped session. With Kenny Golladay still unable to practice due to a hip issue of his own, Amendola could be poised for a few more reps than usual alongside Marvin Jones and Marvin Hall on Sunday at Chicago. That's assuming Golladay misses a fifth consecutive contest.

Limited Wednesday
Amendola (hip) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Amendola has missed consecutive games with the hip injury, but he appears to have a fair shot at playing Sunday in Chicago. The veteran slot man will have two more opportunities to increase his practice activity before the Lions decide whether he'll carry an injury designation into the weekend.

Ruled out for Thursday
Amendola (hip) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Texans, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Analysis: Both Amendola and top wideout Kenny Golladay (hip) won't play Thanksgiving Day, leaving Marvin Jones, Marvin Hall (toe) and Jamal Agnew as Detroit's top options in three-wide sets. The Lions will also have both Matthew Stafford (thumb) and T.J. Hockenson (shoulder) available Thursday.

Progresses to limited participation
Amendola (hip) was listed as a limited participant for Tuesday's walkthrough, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Lions didn't put in a full practice with the quick turnaround from Sunday's loss to the Panthers, but it's a good sign to see the veteran wideout progress to limited participation after being estimated as a non-participant Monday. Amendola didn't practice last week before being ruled out for Week 11, so he should have a chance of suiting up for Thursday's matchup with Houston.

Begins week as non-participant
Amendola (hip) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Analysis: The veteran wideout was unable to play Sunday against the Panthers, and his status remains unchanged on Monday's estimated injury report. Amendola likely will need to practice in some form within the next couple days to have a chance of suiting up Thursday versus the Texans.

Ruled out for Week 11
Amendola (hip) is listed as out for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Analysis: Amendola will be sidelined for the first time this season after his hip injury prevented him from practicing all week. Top wideout Kenny Golladay (hip) will also be sidelined for the third game in a row, so the Lions will likely have to turn to Marvin Hall and Quintez Cephus as their main options alongside Marvin Jones in three-wide sets.

Absent from practice
Amendola (hip) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Analysis: Meanwhile, Marvin Jones (knee) was back at practice after sitting out Wednesday's session, while Kenny Golladay (hip) was on the field again after logging limited activity a day earlier. As such, Amendola's health looks to be the biggest question mark among Detroit's top three receivers, and he may need to practice in full Friday to avoid carrying an injury designation into this weekend's matchup with the Panthers.

Not practicing Wednesday
Amendola (hip) wasn't spotted at practice Wednesday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Neither was Marvin Jones (undisclosed), though on the plus side, Kenny Golladay (hip) returned to the practice field Wednesday. Amendola injured his hip during this past Sunday's win over Washington, finishing the day with three receptions for 10 yards on three targets.

Questionable to return Sunday
Amendola injured his hip during Sunday's contest versus Washington.
Analysis: Amendola was escorted to the locker room in the second half and eventually termed questionable to return by the Lions. If he's unable to reenter the game, he'll conclude Week 10 with three catches (on three targets) for 10 yards and no touchdowns.

Leads way for Lions
Amendola logged seven receptions on 10 targets for 77 yards in Week 9 against the Vikings.
Analysis: Amendola took advantage of Kenny Golladay's (hip) absence to reach double-digit targets for the first time since Week 15 of the 2019 season. While the majority of his receptions went for short gains, Amendola did manage catches of 28 and 13 yards to account for over half of his production. Assuming Golladay is unable to return in Week 10 against Washington, Amendola should be expected to soak up plenty of targets once again.

Catches three passes
Amendola caught three of four targets for 54 yards during Sunday's 41-21 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Amendola made a couple of nice grabs, but it was Marvin Hall (seven targets, four catches, 113 yards) who seemed to benefit more from the injury to Kenny Golladay (hip). However, the veteran did see seven targets in both of the games Golladay missed to begin the year, so it's possible that Hall's usage was fluky to some extent. In any case, Amendola should at least benefit from a Week 9 matchup against a Minnesota defense that has allowed the third-most yards per pass attempt (8.5) in 2020.

Totals 62 yards
Amendola caught three of four targets for 62 yards during Sunday's 23-22 victory over the Falcons.
Analysis: Most of Amendola's production came on a 36-yard catch in the second quarter where the veteran got open and made a short gain much longer. Considering Amendola still hasn't topped four targets in a game since Kenny Golladay returned from injury, he won't be an advisable fantasy option when Detroit takes on a tough Colts secondary Week 8.

Good to go
Amendola (foot) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Atlanta, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Analysis: Amendola will fill his usual role as the Lions' No. 3 receiver, though it hasn't been especially fruitful with the team making multi-TE formations a huge part of the offense this season. Amendola has played only 49 percent of the offensive snaps, and he hasn't seen more than four targets in a game since Week 2.

Amendola (foot) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Amendola was able to match his activity level from Wednesday's practice, putting himself in good shape as Sunday's game against the Falcons. In order to avoid carrying a questionable designation into the contest, however, Amendola may need to upgrade from limited to full participation Friday in the Lions' final practice session of Week 7.

Limited to start week
Amendola was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a foot injury.
Analysis: Amendola's ability to practice in at least a limited capacity seems to hint that he's on track to suit up for Sunday's contest against the Falcons. Fellow starting wideout Marvin Jones (knee) missed Wednesday's practice entirely, making his status the more worrisome of the two receivers at this time.

Efficient with limited targets
Amendola secured two of two targets for 31 yards during Sunday's 34-16 victory over Jacksonville.
Analysis: Amendola saw a season-low in targets on a day in which Kenny Golladay and D'Andre Swift stole the show for Detroit. After the veteran commanded seven targets in Golladay's absence in each of the first two weeks of the season, Amendola has only seen nine combined targets in three games since the Lions' No. 1 wideout returned. It will be hard to trust Amendola in Week 7 despite an appetizing matchup with a Falcons defense that ranks last in yards allowed per pass attempt (8.6) in 2020.

Totals 57 yards
Amendola caught two of three targets for 57 yards during Sunday's 35-29 loss to New Orleans.
Analysis: Amendola carved up the Saints for a 50-yard catch-and-run in the first quarter, but he later followed it up with a disappointing unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the second quarter. With Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones and T.J. Hockenson healthy, Amendola will remain on the fringes of the fantasy radar when the Lions come back from their Week 5 bye.

Sees dip in playing time
Amendola caught one of four passes for 18 yards during Sunday's 26-23 win over Arizona.
Analysis: After comfortably seeing at least 50 percent of the snaps in every game he's been healthy for Detroit the past two seasons, Amendola fell to 45 percent Sunday. While the return of Kenny Golladay played a role in that, Detroit also attempted to control the clock by pounding the rock with Adrian Peterson in formations that frequently used just two receivers, where Amendola was the odd man out behind Golladay and Marvin Jones. Seeing more passes without Golladay
Amendola caught two of seven targets for 21 yards during Sunday's 42-21 loss to Green Bay.
Analysis: With Kenny Golladay (hamstring) again out of commission, Amendola saw more targets than his career per-game average. However, outside of a solid, chain-moving catch on third-and-10, Amendola didn't make nearly as big of an impact as he did in the season opener, though Matthew Stafford did blow a chance to hit a wide-open Amendola down the right sideline at one point. Analysis: With more passes to go around in the absence of Kenny Golladay (hamstring), Amendola wound up pacing the team in catches and receiving yards despite finishing third in targets behind Quintez Cephus (10) and Marvin Jones (eight). While Amendola can't usually be counted on for this kind of production on a weekly basis after averaging 4.1 receptions and 45.2 receiving yards per game last season, he'll play a bigger role on days when Golladay or Jones aren't available. Questionable for Week 1
Amendola (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Analysis: With Kenny Golladay doubtful due to his own hamstring injury, there's an opportunity for Amendola to see some extra targets if he's able to play. The veteran slot receiver was a limited practice participant throughout the week, potentially setting up a game-time decision ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Quintez Cephus and Marvin Hall are the Lions' main depth options at wide receiver, though return specialist Jamal Agnew could also take some snaps if needed.

Amendola (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: After matching his activity from Wednesday's session, Amendola will likely need a full showing in Friday's practice to avoid an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Bears. Amendola is projected to serve as Detroit's starting slot receiver after totaling 62 receptions for 678 yards and a touchdown in his first season with the Lions in 2019.

Analysis: Amendola looked to be at full health during training camp, so there's not yet any reason for concern about his Week 1 availability. The veteran slot man will have two more chances to put forth a full practice session ahead of Sunday's divisional contest against Chicago. With Kenny Golladay (hamstring) also limited to begin the week, however, there's a chance that Quintez Cephus and Marvin Hall could see early opportunities for work at receiver.

Officially re-ups with Lions
Amendola agreed Wednesday with the Lions on a one-year, $5 million contract extension, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Amendola's extension includes $4.5 million guaranteed and carries a maximum value of $6 million when incentives are included. The 34-year-old recorded 62 catches for 678 yards and one touchdown across 15 regular-season games with Detroit last season, and he stands to once again provide the team with consistency in the slot. In 2019, Amendola quietly had seven games with eight or more targets.

Throws touchdown pass
Amendola caught two of four targets for 16 yards and completed his one pass attempt for a 19-yard touchdown during Sunday's 23-20 loss to Green Bay.
Analysis: Amendola played a big role in the Lions' first-half surge by faking an end-around run and finding quarterback David Blough for a wide-open touchdown on a trick play in the first quarter. However, the veteran also committed an egregious 15-yard penalty in the fourth frame by hitting a defenseless player on the sidelines after a play had ended, which helped propel a Packers' comeback attempt that ended with a walk-off field goal in the closing seconds of the game. No. 2 receiver on quiet passing day
Amendola caught two of three targets for 21 receiving yards during Sunday's 27-17 loss to Denver.
Analysis: A week after racking up eight catches for 102 yards on 13 targets against Tampa Bay, Amendola finished second among Detroit receivers in yardage against the Broncos. Unfortunately for those with vested interest in Amendola's fantasy stock, he was the second-leading receiver on an afternoon in which the Lions managed just 117 yards through the air. Stellar day in loss
Amendola brought in eight of 13 targets for 102 yards in the Lions' 38-17 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Analysis: With Marvin Jones (IR, ankle) and Marvin Hall (IR, foot) unavailable, Amendola took center stage with coverage tilting heavily toward Kenny Golladay. The veteran possession receiver narrowly missed a touchdown, but he still comfortably paced the team in receptions and receiving yards for the afternoon. Analysis: After seeing eight targets from David Blough last Sunday while tight end T.J. Instead, Kenny Golladay (eight targets) and Marvin Jones (seven) were the ones to see a bump. Draws eight targets from new QB
Amendola caught three of eight targets for 32 yards during Thursday's 24-20 loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Despite a change at quarterback from Jeff Driskel (hamstring) to third stringer David Blough, Amendola essentially matched the 32.3 receiving yards per game he had averaged in three contests with Driskel at the helm. However, Amendola easily could have done better had he been able to bring in a perfect over-the-shoulder pass that Blough tossed to him in the final minutes of the game. Analysis: Yet again a distant third in playing time among Lions receivers behind Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, Amendola is now averaging 5.7 targets, 3.7 receptions and 32.3 receiving yards through three games with backup quarterback Jeff Driskel. Amendola caught four of five targets for 47 yards during Sunday's 35-27 loss to Dallas.
Analysis: The Lions offense was more competitive than most thought they'd be, and Amendola ultimately was its leading receiver despite being in a three-way tie for the team lead in targets. However, as Marvin Jones showed Sunday with two trips to the end zone, receivers playing with Jeff Driskel are probably reliant on touchdowns in order to be of fantasy value.
