Signs future contract
Vedvik secured a future contract with Washington on Monday.
Analysis: Vedvik hasn't appeared in an NFL game since his first in 2019, where he missed both his one field-goal and extra-point attempt. Since the kicker has also proven he's an option at punter, it's unclear how exactly Washington plans on utilizing him.

Could be called upon Sunday
Vedvik could be called up from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Lions if Dustin Hopkins (groin) can't play, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Analysis: Vedvik has only one appearance in the NFL under his belt, but he could get another shot in Detroit on Sunday. Hopkins is officially listed as questionable, and coach Ron Rivera has said that the decision on his availability could come down to a game-time call.

Joins practice squad
Washington signed Vedvik to the practice squad Friday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: The spot on the practice squad opened up following the promotion of Joshua Garnett to the active roster. The punter/kicker hybrid's only career NFL action came in one game with the Jets last season, during which he failed to convert his sole field-goal attempt.

Shown door in Carolina
The Panthers waived Vedvik on Saturday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The punter-kicker hybrid couldn't make it past cut day in Carolina, as the Panthers are rolling with Joey Slye at kicker and Joseph Charlton at punter. With plenty of uncertainty in 2020, Vedvik should be a practice squad candidate who can be called upon in a pinch.

Plucked off waivers
The Panthers claimed Vedvik off waivers Thursday, Myles Simmons of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Vedvik has the ability to act as both a kicker and punter, but the Panthers likely are taking a look at him as the latter due to regular punter Michael Palardy tearing his ACL in the offseason. Expect Vedvik to compete with undrafted rookie Joseph Charlton for that vacancy, while also potentially getting some reps at kicker behind Joey Slye.

Let go by Buffalo
The Bills waived Vedvik on Wednesday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Vedvik was expected to battle incumbent Corey Bojorquez for the Bills' punting job during training camp, but he didn't show enough in the team's initial practices to stick around long. Since he also has experience as a kicker, Vedvik could draw interest from other clubs looking to add a body for either specialist role.

Competing for roster spot
While Corey Bojorquez is the incumbent punter and is the top guy on the depth chart, Vedvik will be given fair chance to compete for the spot, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. "I know he's improving," said special teams coach Heath Farwell of Vedvik. "Nobody works harder. So he is a guy that will do whatever he can. Kaare is a guy who's really going to push Corey Bojorquez."
Analysis: Vedvik has a booming leg and can also serve as a kickoff specialist, so there's a chance he could make the team as a third kicker, even if he doesn't beat out Bojorquez. The latter was shaky at times last season, so it wouldn't be a shock if Vedvik usurps him for the role. Vedvik, a Marshall product, has been woking out diligently during the pandemic with some other Bills, namely long snapper and veteran Reid Ferguson.

Secures future contract
Vedvik signed a reserve/future contract with the Bills on Tuesday.
Analysis: Vedvik was picked up off waivers to start the season, but his stint with the Jets didn't last long. The 25-year-old kicker missed a field goal and an extra point in Week 1's 17-16 loss to the Bills, so Gang Green quickly replaced him with Sam Ficken. Vedvik may compete with Stephen Hauschka for the Bills' starting job in 2020, but the former has an uphill battle since Hauschka had a strong end to the season and is under contract for two more years. Vedvik also can work as a punter, so he could…read more

Gets practice squad call
The Bengals signed Vedvik to their practice squad Monday, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Analysis: Vedvik had a couple shots to assume a starting kicking role with the Vikings and Jets this year but couldn't stick. The 25-year-old missed both his only career field-goal and extra-point attempts for the Jets in Week 1 this season.
