Eclipses century mark in loss
Sims brought in seven of 13 targets for 104 yards in Washington's 31-23 wild-card loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday night.
Analysis: Sims recorded a team-high 36-yard reception on his way to leading Washington in catches, receiving yards and targets. The third-year wideout eclipsed the century mark only once during the regular season, a 110-yard effort against the Giants in Week 9. After recording just two receptions for 27 yards in his first two seasons, Sims had a breakout of sorts in 2020 with a 32-477-1 line across 16 games. He'll now head into the offseason with some momentum following Saturday night's stellar showing…read more

Catches five passes in win
Sims caught each of his five targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 20-14 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: Sims played every single snap on offense for a second straight week, making his 10th consecutive start to close out the season. He averaged 62.3 snaps but only 4.5 targets in those 10 starts, catching 29 of 45 targets for 438 yards. While he should keep his starting job for the playoffs, Sims will likely face more competition in the offseason.

Gets nine targets
Sims caught three of nine targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 20-13 loss to Carolina.
Analysis: With Terry McLaurin (ankle) inactive, Sims led Washington wideouts in targets, though TE Logan Thomas (12) and RB J.D. McKissic (10) both saw more. Apart from his 50-yard gain on a Dwayne Haskins scramble drill in the third quarter, Sims mostly had a tough go of it, producing just 19 yards on his other eight targets. He nearly made a diving catch for a 43-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter, but the ball bounced out of his hands. This was the third time in four weeks Sims has drawn eight…read more

Meager yardage in defeat
Sims brought in five of eight targets for 26 yards in Washington's 20-15 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday.
Analysis: Sims was unable to break free for any big gains, with his longest catch of the afternoon going for just 10 yards. The 24-year-old speedster has flashed in a couple of games this season with 92- and 110-yard efforts, but he's also been under 30 receiving yards in four of the last five contests alone, including a complete blanking over 55 snaps Week 10 against the Cowboys. Sims will continue as a boom-or-bust option in a Week 16 matchup against the Panthers.

Limited to one catch
Sims caught one of two targets for eight yards in Sunday's 23-15 win over the 49ers.
Analysis: Sims played 94 percent of snaps on offense, and he took his first carry of the season for a five-yard gain. He continues to dominate playing time opposite Terry McLaurin, yet is averaging only 3.3 targets in seven starts. It isn't clear if Sims will catch passes from Alex Smith (calf) or Dwayne Haskins in Week 15 against Seattle.

Five receptions Monday
Sims recorded five receptions for 92 yards across 62 offensive snaps in Monday's win over the Steelers.
Analysis: Sims bounced back nicely in Week 13 after being held to no receptions the week prior. He had one of his most productive outings of the season as he now has 18 receptions for 337 yards and a touchdown on the year. He'll enter Sunday's game against the 49ers as Washington's No. 2 wideout.

Practically invisible Week 12
Sims was not targeted during Thursday's 41-16 win against the Cowboys.
Analysis: Sims logged his fifth consecutive start during the second leg of a Thanksgiving NFL slate, but he was held without a reception for the first time since Week 5. The Alabama product had generated three consecutive multi-catch performances entering Thursday's matchup, including a three-catch, 110-yard receiving day Week 9 against the Giants. Sims garnered an ample workload of 55 offensive snaps, but Terry McLaurin (92 yards) was the only Washington player to eclipse 25 receiving yards in the…read more

Held to 20 yards
Sims caught both of his targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 20-0 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Sims got the start and played 84 percent of offensive snaps, but he was targeted only twice on Alex Smith's 25 pass attempts. The 6-foot-5 wideout continues to be highly efficient with his limited opportunities, averaging 2.5 catches for 51.5 yards on 3.0 targets per game since he became a starter in Week 11. It's possible Sims loses some work if Dontrelle Inman (hamstring) returns for Thursday's game against Dallas.

Retains starting role
Sims is expected to remain in the starting lineup Sunday against the Bengals with Dontrelle Inman (hamstring) inactive for the contest.
Analysis: Sims will likely serve as an outside receiver at the spot opposite Terry McLaurin, leaving Steven Sims and Isaiah Wright to share work out of the slot. Cam Sims has been a surprising source of big plays while Inman has been sidelined for the previous two games, hauling in seven of nine targets for 164 yards in those contests.

Gets another start
Sims got the start and played 94 percent of offensive snaps in Sunday's 30-27 loss to Detroit, catching four of five targets for 54 yards.
Analysis: Isaiah Wright and Steven Sims had six targets apiece, but both played less than half the snaps on offense, while Cam rarely left the field. It was his third consecutive start and third game in a row playing at least 74 percent of snaps. He's seen only 10 targets in that stretch, but he's made the most of them with eight catches for 186 yards. Despite the solid work, it is possible Sims loses some playing time when Dontrelle Inman (hamstring) is ready to play. Inman was a limited practice…read more

Picks up another start
Sims will serve as one of Washington's starting receivers Sunday in Detroit with Dontrelle Inman (hamstring) inactive for the game, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Though Washington returned Steven Sims from injured reserve ahead of last week's loss to the Giants, Cam still retained a starting role while Inman was sidelined. With Steven on a limited snap count in Week 9, Cam essentially served as Washington's No. 2 wideout behind Terry McLaurin, finishing with three receptions for 110 yards on four targets. That sort of yards-per-target production likely won't be sustainable, however, especially if new starting quarterback Alex Smith opts to make the…read more

Works as No. 2 WR
Sims caught three of four targets for 110 yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Giants.
Analysis: Sims worked as the No. 2 WR with 74 percent snap share, while Steven Sims and Isaiah Wright got only 30 percent apiece. Granted, this was with Dontrelle Inman (hamstring) inactive and (Steven) Sims in his first game back from a prolonged absence, so it isn't necessarily clear Cam Sims will maintain the same role for Week 10 at Detroit. It is worth noting that Cam has been highly efficient with his limited chances this year, catching seven of eight targets for 171 yards and a touchdown.

Not productive despite high usage
Sims caught his lone target for 22 yards in Sunday's 25-3 win over the Cowboys.
Analysis: Antonio Gandy-Golden (hamstring) went to IR after a Week 6 loss to the Giants and Isaiah Wright (shoulder) was ruled out for Sunday's game, so Sims started and played 88 percent of the offensive snaps. It didn't turn into much production, but he out-snapped both Dontrelle Inman by 38 snaps and Terry McLaurin by three snaps. That level of usage is bound to regress eventually, and with a Week 8 bye on tap, it's possible this was just a one-week surge.

Scores first NFL touchdown
Sims caught his lone target for a 22-yard touchdown in Sunday's 20-19 loss to the Giants.
Analysis: Sims came in for Isaiah Wright, who suffered what appeared to be a shoulder injury on the final drive. Antonio Gandy-Golden had injured his hamstring earlier in the game, so Sims, Terry McLaurin and Dontrelle Inman were Washington's only healthy wide receivers by the end. Sims promptly scored a touchdown, but his team came up short on the two-point attempt and wasn't able to recover the ensuing onside kick. Sims will have a top-three role at WR if Inman and Gandy-Golden can't make it back for…read more

Receives promotion
Washington promoted Sims to the active roster Tuesday.
Analysis: Sims has played both games thus far but has reverted to the practice squad following each outing. Despite playing mainly in a special-teams role, the 24-year-old receiver earned a full-time role on the active roster, but his offensive impact likely will still be minimal.

Reverts to practice squad
Sims reverted back to Washington's practice squad Monday, according to the league's official transaction report.
Analysis: Sims was called up to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game, but he only ended up playing in four offensive snaps for Washington. He now returns to the practice squad, but he could be activated again Week 3 as Washington continues to deal with an injury-hampered receiving corps.

Returns to active roster
Sims was promoted to Washington's active roster Saturday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Sims played in Week 1 but played all 16 of his snaps on special teams. With the Football Team's receiver corps healthy, he'll likely serve in a similar role Sunday versus the Cardinals.

Descends to practice squad
Sims reverted to Washington's practice squad.
Analysis: Sims suited up in the season-opening win over the Eagles, but he only played on special teams. The 24-year-old receiver has played nine NFL games over three seasons, recording two receptions for 27 yards.

Placed on active roster
Sims was elevated to Washington's active roster Saturday.
Analysis: Sims landed back on Washington's practice squad after being cut late in training camp. Reports indicated he was impressive throughout practices this summer, and he may have a chance to serve a depth role among the team's receiving corps in Week 1 against Philadelphia.

Heads to practice squad
Washington signed Sims to the practice squad Sunday, Kyle Stackpole of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Sims put together an impressive training camp, though his efforts weren't enough to earn a spot on the initial regular-season roster. The Alabama product has appeared in eight combined games for Washington over the last two seasons.

Waived by Washington
Sims was waived by Washington on Saturday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The move, along with the waiving of Trey Quinn, essentially confirms Dontrelle Inman and Antonio Gandy-Golden will be the No. 3 and 4 WRs to start the season, although it's possible the rash of early transactions by Washington could be in an effort to open up roster spots for additional signings down the road. In either case, expect the majority of the team's passing attack to funnel through Terry McLaurin and Steven Sims.

Pushing for role
Coach Ron Rivera mentioned Sims as one of Washington's more impressive wide receivers during training camp, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Terry McLaurin, Steven Sims and Dontrelle Inman have been getting most of the first-team work, but Inman in particular appears vulnerable to a challenge. Sims and rookie Antonio Gandy-Golden are the top candidates to apply pressure for outside receiver snaps, though Sims was limited to two receptions in seven games last year.

Catches two passes in December
Sims played seven games in 2019, catching two of three targets for 27 yards.
Analysis: Sims saw each of his three targets over the final two weeks of the year, even playing 63 percent of snaps on offense in the season finale when Terry McLaurin (concussion) was unavailable. Sims will need to battle for a roster spot in 2020 under a new coaching staff, entering his third NFL season with minimal game experience. If he does stick around, it likely will be as the fourth or fifth choice at wide receiver.

Sitting out Week 12
Sims (coach's decision) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions.
Analysis: Sims was recently brought up from the practice squad due to Paul Richardson's hamstring injury last week, but he has yet to see a snap. In Sims' stead, Kelvin Harmon and Steven Sims are expected to handle depth receiving duties Sunday.

Joining Washington
Sims signed a contract with the Redskins on Saturday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Sims was brought up from the practice squad after Paul Richardson (hamstring) was ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest. Sims is expected to provide some depth at the wide receiver position behind the likes of Terry McLaurin, Trey Quinn, Kelvin Harmon and Steven Sims.
