Re-ups with Steelers
McCloud re-signed Wednesday with the Steelers on a one-year contract, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: McCloud appeared in every regular-season game for the Steelers in 2020, converting 22 targets into 20 catches for 77 yards. He also had four carries for 65 yards, while racking up 645 and 298 yards on kick and punt returns, respectively.

Negative yardage in Week 17
McCloud brought in both of his targets for minus-3 yards in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: McCloud was unable to carve out a role in the Steelers offense during his first season with the team, and he totaled negative yardage over the final five weeks of the year. The 24-year-old was targeted 22 times during the regular season, racking up 20 receptions for 77 yards while also rushing four times for 65 yards. The Steelers could bring him back as a kick returner next year, but he's unlikely to play a significant offensive role during the playoffs or in 2021.

Two receptions in loss
McCloud recorded two receptions for four yards across five offensive snaps in Monday's loss to Washington.
Analysis: McCloud has logged just nine offensive snaps over the past two weeks, after averaging almost 18 snaps a game for the seven contests prior. With plenty of mouths to feed on the Pittsburgh receiving corps, McCloud could continue to see limited action as the regular season comes to a close.

Key miscue in win
McCloud hauled in his lone target for an eight-yard gain Wednesday in the Steelers' 19-14 win over the Ravens.
Analysis: McCloud added 52 yards in the return game, but he was also responsible for one of the Steelers' two turnovers on the day. His muffed punt in the first quarter gave the Ravens possession in the red zone, with running back Gus Edwards eventually scoring a touchdown to give Baltimore its only lead of the day. McCloud still served as the Steelers' kickoff and punt returner the rest of the game, so despite the gaffe, his role on special teams still appears secure.

Racks up four receptions
McCloud hauled in all four of his targets for 20 yards while also recording one carry for three yards in Sunday's 27-3 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: McCloud was on the field 20 of the team's 75 offensive snaps Sunday and had a season-high 20 receiving yards. The 24-year-old has logged 14 receptions for 70 yards along with four rushes for 65 yards this season.

Records two catches Sunday
McCloud brought in both of his targets for four yards in Sunday's 36-10 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: McCloud was only on the field for 21 percent of the team's offensive snaps Sunday as the Steelers continued to play their starters in the blowout win over Cincinnati. The 24-year-old was efficient on punt returns Week 10, but he hasn't been targeted more than three times in any game this year.

Hauls in two passes
McCloud brought in both of his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Cowboys.
Analysis: McCloud was on the field for a season-high 28 offensive snaps against Dallas, and he racked up 16 receiving yards, his highest total of the season. Most of McCloud's usage has come on special teams this season as he maintains an insignificant spot within Pittsburgh's receiving corps.

Racks up 12 yards against Titans
McCloud brought in both of his targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Titans.
Analysis: McCloud's 12 receiving yards Sunday matched his highest total of the season, but he once again saw a minimal role as he was on the field for just eight of a possible 79 offensive snaps. Even though the Steelers attempted 49 passes against Tennessee, McCloud's target share was low with all of the team's receivers fully healthy for most of the game. The 2018 sixth-round pick has mainly been used on special teams as his offensive potential remains capped.

Targeted once Sunday
McCloud, who was on the field for 13 of a possible 65 snaps on offense, failed to haul in his lone target in Sunday's 38-7 win over the Browns.
Analysis: McCloud racked up a combined 75 yards in the Steelers' Week 5 win over the Eagles, but he wasn't a big part of the game plan against Browns. McCloud didn't have a prominent place on the team's depth chart to begin the year, and the 2018 sixth-round pick now has increased competition on that front with the recent emergence of Chase Claypool as a versatile option in Pittsburgh's offense.

Breaks off long run
McCloud brought in all three of his targets for 12 yards while also rushing for 63 yards on two carries in Sunday's 38-29 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: McCloud didn't log any catches or carries over the first three weeks of the season, but he saw a modest workload in the Week 5 win. In the process, he led the Steelers in rushing yards as a result of a 58-yard carry early in the third quarter. While McCloud recorded a career-high 75 total yards Sunday, he's mostly played on special teams to begin the season and has limited fantasy upside while operating in a crowded wide receiver corps in Pittsburgh.

Makes 53-man roster
McCloud secured a spot on the Steelers' 53-man roster, Mark Madden of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: McCloud was let go by the Bills right before training camp and didn't sign on with the Steelers until Aug. 20, but he made the most of his limited reps and beat out Ryan Switzer and Deon Cain for the No. 5 WR role. The 2018 sixth-round pick hasn't played an offensive snap since 2019 when he caught five of six targets for 36 yards with the Bills, but he did return punts and kicks for the Panthers last season. He could contribute in a similar way with the Steelers, although his offensive upside…read more

Joining Steelers
The Steelers have agreed to terms with McCloud, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: McCloud has almost exclusively been a returner in his two-year career, averaging 7.3 yards on 14 punt returns and 21.3 yards on nine kick returns. That said, dropping the rock has been an issue, as he's fumbled five times in 16 appearances between the Bills and Panthers. He may have to display much-improved ball control to land a spot on Pittsburgh's regular-season roster.

Sent packing by Buffalo
The Bills cut McCloud on Monday, Maddy Glab of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: A sixth-round pick by Buffalo in 2018, McCloud was heading into his second stint with the Bills after re-signing with the club in January following a brief stay on the Carolina roster. McCloud had been buried on the depth chart at receiver and faced an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster, so his release at least affords him a chance to try and find work elsewhere before training camps get in full swing.

Secures deal with Bills
McCloud signed a reserve/future contract with the Bills on Monday.
Analysis: McCloud spent six games with the Panthers in 2019, but fumbling issues led to his departure. The 2018 sixth-round pick has upside as a return man, so he'll aim to leverage that into a 53-man roster spot in 2020.
