Has career season in 2020
Edmonds compiled career highs in carries (97), catches (53) and yards from scrimmage (850) during the 2020 campaign.
Analysis: Edmonds was aided on the carry front when starting running back Kenyan Drake logged his only absence of the season Week 9, racking up 25 rushes in that contest. Meanwhile, Edmonds was leaned on by Kyler Murry in the passing game as he finished fourth on the team in targets with 67 in 16 games. Edmonds is a key cog of the Cardinals offense under coach Kliff Kingsbury, and the RB enters the offseason as the most highly regarded player at the position under contract in 2021 with Drake set to be an…read more

Available Sunday
Edmonds (hip) is active for Sunday's road game versus the Rams, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: When available and serving as Kenyan Drake's direct backup this season, Edmonds has averaged 8.8 touches for 56.1 yards from scrimmage while scoring five TDs across 13 games. The potential exists for Edmonds to be inhibited by the hip injury that kept him off the practice field during the week. If that happens, whatever he's unable to handle likely will shift to Drake and (to a lesser extent) D.J. Foster.

Optimism regarding Sunday status
The Cardinals are optimistic that Edmonds (hip) -- who is listed as questionable for Sunday against the Rams -- will be able to suit up, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Edmonds is being treated as a game-time decision ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, but he looks like he'll be able to contribute in some capacity during the regular-season finale. Kenyan Drake should remain Arizona's lead ball carrier Week 17, but an available Edmonds would likely serve as the team's top pass-catching option out of the backfield. Edmonds could even be asked to take some snaps out of the slot with Christian Kirk (reserve/COVID-19 list) ruled out for the contest and with…read more

Uncertain to face Rams
Edmonds (hip) didn't practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Per Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site, head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Edmonds and wideout Larry Fitzgerald (groin) will be game-time decisions ahead of the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Neither logged any level of practice participation this week, but Edmonds suited up last week after managing only one limited session. He was then forced out after 16 snaps and two touches in the 20-12 loss to San Francisco, suffering a hip injury to add to the ankle and knee issues that put him on the…read more

Doesn't practice Thursday
Edmonds (hip) was held out of practice Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: In the 13 games in which a healthy Edmonds has spelled starting running back Kenyan Drake this season, Edmonds has averaged 8.8 touches for 56.1 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring five TDs. After leaving this past Sunday's game versus the 49ers in the first half with a hip issue, though, he has yet to step foot on the practice field. If he fails to get all the way back and misses his first contest of the campaign Week 17 against the Rams, the aforementioned reps likely will fall on…read more

Not at practice Thursday
Edmonds (hip) wasn't present for Thursday's practice and is expected to go down as a non-participant on the Cardinals' official report, Kyle Odegard of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Edmonds' lack of activity at the Cardinals' first two practices of Week 17 is worrisome ahead of Sunday's must-win game against the Rams, but the running back will attempt to get in some reps Friday before Arizona decides on his status for the regular-season finale. The hip issue resulted in Edmonds being removed early in the Cardinals' Week 16 loss to the 49ers, allowing top back Kenyan Drake to handle a slightly larger snap share than he normally would.

Doesn't practice Wednesday
Edmonds (hip) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Edmonds has been tending to multiple injuries over the past few weeks, with a hip issue being his latest concern. He managed one limited session last week before being active this past Saturday versus the 49ers, but he played just 16 snaps before departing in the first half, ending with two catches (on three targets) for 18 yards. Kenyan Drake took on a larger workload (52 offensive snaps, 20 touches) in Edmonds' stead, while D.J. Foster saw his most significant run of the season (17 such…read more

Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Edmonds (hip) is "day-to-day," Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Edmonds was forced out of Saturday's loss to the 49ers due to a hip injury, and he entered the contest with both ankle and knee issues. If Edmonds can't go against the Rams in Week 17, D.J. Foster will operate as the backup to Kenyan Drake.

Won't return to Saturday's game
Edmonds (hip) won't return to Saturday's game against the 49ers, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Edmonds caught two passes for eight yards before departing in the second quarter. Kenyan Drake is the clear-cut lead back for the rest of the game, while Jonathan Ward and D.J. Foster should rotate in occasionally.

Suiting up Week 16
Edmonds (ankle/knee) is active for Saturday's game versus the 49ers.
Analysis: Edmonds again will take the field somewhat compromised, marking his second straight contest doing so. In Week 15, he racked up 14 touches for 66 yards from scrimmage and a receiving TD. Edmonds will continue to work in tandem with Kenyan Drake out of the Cardinals backfield.

Takes questionable tag into weekend
Edmonds (ankle/knee) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the 49ers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Edmonds played through the ankle injury in last week's win over the Eagles, but he seemingly tweaked his knee along the way. With the Cardinals facing a quicker turnaround for the team's Week 16 contest, Edmonds' pair of injuries kept him sidelined in practices Tuesday and Wednesday before he returned to the field in a limited fashion Thursday. Edmonds (ankle/knee) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Last week, Edmonds was contained to one limited practice session due to an ankle injury before he was eventually deemed active ahead of the Week 15 win over the Eagles. He handed his second-highest touch count (14) of the season in the victory, scoring a touchdown and totaling 66 scrimmage yards along the way. Not seen at practice
Edmonds (ankle/knee) wasn't present for the media-access portion of Wednesday's practice, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: What Edmonds is able to do at practice Thursday will thus be telling with regard to his status for Saturday's game against the 49ers. Edmonds is back on the fantasy radar heading into Week 16, after carrying 11 times for 47 yards and catching three of five his targets for 19 yards and a touchdown in this past Sunday's win over the Eagles.

Listed as DNP on practice estimate
Edmonds (ankle/knee) was listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's practice estimate, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: The third-year running back didn't practice until Friday last week, but he recorded 66 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown while running ahead of Kenyan Drake in a win over the Eagles on Sunday. It's possible that he's following a similar regimen, although it's worth noting that the knee injury is a new addition for Edmonds. If he can get on the field by Thursday's practice, he'll have a decent chance to play Saturday against the 49ers.

Scores on 66 scrimmage yards
Edmonds carried 11 times for 47 yards while catching three of five targets for 19 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 33-26 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: Coming off a minor ankle injury, Edmonds easily out-rushed Kenyan Drake, who managed just 26 yards on 10 carries. He also garnered more targets, receptions and receiving yards while scoring his fifth touchdown of the year on a six-yard grab in the first quarter. Edmonds' superior playmaking ability in this one could earn him a few more touches next Saturday against the 49ers, but the two backs are likely to split the workload somewhat evenly.

Suiting up Sunday
Edmonds (ankle) is listed as active Sunday against the Eagles.
Analysis: The Cardinals proceeded with caution this week, holding Edmonds out of practice until Friday, when he logged a limited session. Considered a game-time decision, he put in a pregame workout to determine whether he was fit to go on his ankle. With his status confirmed for Week 15, Edmonds will work in tandem with Kenyan Drake out of the backfield, likely capped at the 8.4 touches per game in which he's acted as the latter's backup.

Expects to play Sunday
Edmonds (ankle), who is listed as questionable, "plans to play" Sunday against the Eagles, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Schefter also noted the 24-year-old still needs to test things out in pregame warmups, so it appears he's more of a game-time decision as previously indicated by Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. Edmonds has played more than 50 percent of the offensive snaps in each of the past two games, but his production has been limited with 13 carries for 60 yards and six catches for 36 yards. Analysis: Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com suggests Edmonds could be a game-time decision, while Urban reports that the team could make a call on his status after the running back works out Saturday. Of course, the Cardinals won't necessarily broadcast their decision to the public even if they know ahead of time, so a clear read on Edmonds' status may not come until the team releases its inactive list approximately 90 minutes before the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. There was no sign of any problem last week in a 26-7 win over the Giants, as Edmonds took 11 touches for 53 yards while playing 51 percent of the Cardinals' offensive snaps. Working on side at practice
Edmonds (ankle) was working out on a side field during the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, suggesting he'll be listed as a non-participant for the session, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury indicated Wednesday that Edmonds would likely be a game-time decision for Sunday's tilt with the Eagles, so the running back's lack of activity with the main group for a second straight day isn't too surprising in that context. Should Edmonds' ankle injury prevent him from suiting up Week 15, top back Kenyan Drake would likely take on a heftier snap share after playing between 45 and 56 percent of the Cardinals' offensive plays in each of the past five weeks.

Set to be game-time call
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Edmonds (ankle) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's contest against the Eagles, Kevin Zimmerman of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Analysis: Edmonds made a surprise appearance on Wednesday's practice report as a non-participant due to an ankle injury. When acting as Kenyan Drake's direct backup this season, Edmonds has averaged 8.4 touches per game in those 12 outings. If those reps suddenly are up for grabs, it's anyone's guess who among Jonathan Ward (shoulder), rookie seventh-rounder Eno Benjamin or practice squad member D.J. Foster would be in line for those snaps.

Tending to ankle issue
Edmonds didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Edmonds is among the more utilized No. 2 running backs in the NFL, averaging 8.4 touches per game in the 12 contests in which starter Kenyan Drake has been active this season. Meanwhile, the only other Cardinals running back to garner touches in 2020 -- D.J. Foster with two -- resides on the practice squad. There's no indication that Edmonds is in danger of sitting out Sunday versus the Eagles, but his status now is of interest as the Cardinals prepare for Week 15.

Manages 53 yards from scrimmage
Edmonds turned seven carries into 32 yards and four catches (on five targets) into 21 yards during Sunday's 26-7 road win against the Giants.
Analysis: Working behind starting running back Kenyan Drake, Edmonds continues to hover around 10 touches weekly en route to 57.8 yards from scrimmage per game and four touchdowns in 13 outings. Edmonds also earned almost as many offensive snaps as Drake -- 40 versus 44 (of 79) -- but the latter had 24 touches Sunday. Due to his versatility, Edmonds will continue to be a regular in the Cardinals offense, but his standing as the No. 2 RB hurts his ceiling.

Another 43 yards from scrimmage
Edmonds recorded six carries for 28 yards and two catches (on six targets) for 15 yards during Sunday's 38-28 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: As the Cardinals have become increasingly pass-heavy during their current three-game losing streak, Edmonds' target count has experienced an appreciable boost (five targets per game during that stretch, versus 3.6 prior to that point). Still, he's recorded two of his four lowest receiving yardage totals in that span. Due to the game script dictating more passing, though, Edmonds earned more offensive snaps than starting running back Kenyan Drake -- 37-29 -- and the former also reeled off a…read more

Manages 43 total yards
Edmonds had six carries for 29 yards and four catches (on five targets) for 14 yards during Sunday's 20-17 loss at New England.
Analysis: On a day in which the Cardinals couldn't get much going through the air -- Kyler Murray averaged a measly 5.0 yards per attempt -- Edmonds' slight contribution as a receiver helped him finish third among the team's skill-position players with 43 yards from scrimmage. Scores as receiver in loss
Edmonds rushed twice for 13 yards, brought in all four targets for 36 yards and a touchdown and returned five kickoffs for 100 yards in the Cardinals' 28-21 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday night.
Analysis: The versatile running back put his skill set on full display in the losing effort, with the highlight of his night coming on a three-yard touchdown grab early in the fourth quarter to cap off a 15-play, 90-yard march. Edmonds did see his lowest rushing workload of the season, but he'd come close to matching Thursday's sparse usage with a trio of three-carry games earlier in the campaign. Effective in No. 2 role Sunday
Edmonds carried the ball eight times for 56 yards and caught all three of his targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 32-30 win over the Bills.
Analysis: Despite the return of Kenyan Drake to the lineup, Edmonds still saw double-digit touches and put together a productive afternoon. The duo will likely continue to share the load in the Cardinals' backfield in Week 11 against a porous Seahawks defense that just gave up three rushing TDs to the Rams.

Struggles with large workload
Edmonds carried 25 times for 70 yards and caught all three of his targets for an additional 18 yards during Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Dolphins.
Analysis: With Kenyan Drake (ankle) sidelined, Edmonds received nearly as many carries in this one as he had in the first seven games combined. Despite facing a favorable matchup on paper, the typically efficient back averaged just 2.8 yards per carry and couldn't break off any big gains in the passing game. Edmonds is in line to headline the Cardinals backfield with Kenyan Drake slated to miss "a few weeks" due to a high-ankle sprain, Kyle Odegard of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: With the help of Drake's departure in the fourth quarter of an eventual overtime win against the Seahawks on Sunday, Edmonds handled a season-high 61 percent of the Cards' offensive snaps en route to 12 touches for 145 yards. He reeled off a 32-yard run, a 21-yard catch-and-run and an 18-yard reception among his opportunities, which leaves him with a healthy 6.1 yards per carry and 6.9 yards per catch on the season. Edmonds had five carries for 23 yards and one reception (on two targets) for six yards during Monday's 38-10 win at Dallas.
Analysis: Game flow helped starting running back Kenyan Drake match his season high with 20 rushes, which translated into 164 yards and two touchdowns. Edmonds himself logged a typical offensive snap share (37 percent), but his 29 yards from scrimmage marked his second fewest of the campaign. Productive again on limited touches
Edmonds carried the ball three times for 36 yards and a touchdown and caught five of six targets for 56 yards in Sunday's 30-10 win over the Jets.
Analysis: While Kenyan Drake saw 19 touches to Edmonds' eight, it was the latter who led the Arizona backfield in yardage as he dashed for a 29-yard TD in the first quarter and added a 30-yard reception in the second. It was Edmonds' best yardage total yet this season and he's making a strong case for a bigger workload, but he may not need many touches to make an impact in Week 6 against a porous Dallas defense.

Edmonds notched four carries for 16 yards and gathered in five of six targets for 24 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 31-21 loss at Carolina.
Analysis: Edmonds' snap share (37 percent) wasn't out of the ordinary, but he matched his season high in touches and reached the end zone for the second time this season. Meanwhile, starting running back Kenyan Drake had an injury scare late in Sunday's contest, but on Monday it was revealed he merely had the wind knocked out of him. Has 34 yards from scrimmage Week 3
Edmonds compiled three carries for 13 yards and caught both of his targets for 21 yards during Sunday's 26-23 loss to the Lions.
Analysis: Edmonds' touch count has decreased in each game this season, as he earned nine Week 1 and six Week 2 before five this past Sunday. He hasn't exactly been productive either, turning 20 touches into 92 yards from scrimmage and one TD. With his share of the offensive snaps hovering in the low-to-mid 30s, Edmonds' workload isn't enough to make him a consistent producer behind Kenyan Drake, who himself has yet to surpass 100 yards from scrimmage in a given game and has scored just one touchdown.

Analysis: After playing 28 snaps on offense and scoring a TD on nine touches in the Cardinals' Week 1 victory at San Francisco, Edmonds logged 27 such plays but didn't find pay dirt on six touches one week later. Finds end zone vs. 49ers

Analysis: Edmonds didn't do much on the ground outside of a 20-yard gain, but he did manage to get his team on the board with a 10-yard receiving touchdown in the first quarter. The production was likely a pleasant surprise for Edmonds' fantasy managers, as he wasn't expected to play much of a role in this one given the team's other offensive weapons. Racks up 408 yards from scrimmage
Edmonds had 60 carries for 303 yards, 12 receptions (on 21 targets) for 105 yards and five total touchdowns in 13 games during the 2019 season.
Analysis: Edmond got a chance to act as the Cardinals' lead running back for one contest, dashing 27 times for 126 yards and three TDs against the Giants in Week 7. Otherwise, he seemingly was an afterthought in the offense, especially after a midseason hamstring injury coincided with Kenyan Drake's arrival in Arizona. Drake enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, but his dynamic performance may have endeared himself to the team's brass. In any case, the Cards will head into the new league…read more

Notches one touch Week 14
Edmonds had a nine-yard carry and didn't haul in either of his two targets during Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: Since sitting out three games and using the Cardinals' Week 12 bye to get past a hamstring injury, Edmonds has lost all sway he may have built up earlier in the season. Over the last two contests, he's logged just 11 offensive snaps -- all of them Sunday -- while Kenyan Drake (90) and David Johnson (37) handled the vast majority of RB reps. Without an injury to that duo, Edmonds is unlikely to make a regular impact out of Arizona's backfield.

No snaps on offense Sunday
Edmonds played no offensive snaps and 13 plays on special teams during Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Edmonds' role was far different than what it was prior to his three-game absence. primarily due to the presence of Kenyan Drake, who paced Cardinals running backs with 51 (of 64) snaps on offense and 15 touches. Meanwhile, David Johnson picked up the scraps (15 snaps and six touches). Without an injury or downturn in play from Drake or Johnson, Edmonds doesn't hold much sway in Arizona's offense.

Avoids Week 13 designation
Edmonds (hamstring) won't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Rams, Mike Jurecki of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: The Cardinals listed Edmonds as a full participant in practice Friday for the second straight day, clearing the way for him to return to game action after a four-week hiatus. He'll rejoin an Arizona backfield that looks quite different from the last time he was healthy, as trade-deadline pickup Kenyan Drake has since taken over as the lead option. With Drake expected to garner the starting nod again in Week 13, Edmonds and David Johnson will vie for the primary backup duties.

Elevates to full participant
Edmonds (hamstring) was a full practice participant Thursday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Edmonds may have taken the final step in his recovery from a hamstring injury with his elevation to all activity. If he puts and end to a three-game absence Sunday against the Rams, he'll rejoin a backfield currently led by Kenyan Drake. Since Drake arrived in Arizona from Miami in Week 9, he's dominated the reps out of the backfield, seeing 57 touches to David Johnson's six while Edmonds was absent.

Limited off bye week
Edmonds (hamstring) was limited at Wednesday's walk-through, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Coming off a Week 12 bye, Edmonds and defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard (foot) are the only Cardinals with injuries that are impacting their practice reps. While there's an expectation Edmonds returns from a three-game absence Sunday against the Rams, the state of the backfield is far different than his last appearance Week 8. Kenyan Drake, formerly of the Dolphins, has overtaken David Johnson for the top job, leaving nothing but scraps behind for the remaining backs. It remains to be seen if…read more

Likely to return Week 13
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Monday that he expects Edmonds (hamstring) to play in the Cardinals' Week 13 matchup with the Rams, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: After missing the Cardinals' previous three contests, Edmunds appears at or near full health coming out of the team's Week 12 bye. He was spotted on the field Monday in the Cardinals' informal practice session, but the extent of his activity won't be known until Arizona reveals its first injury report of Week 13 on Wednesday. Assuming Kingsbury's prediction comes to pass, Edmonds will rejoin a crowded backfield that now counts Kenyan Drake as its lead option. Prior to getting hurt Week 8,…read more

Spotted at practice Monday
Edmonds (hamstring) was present for practice Monday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Edmonds no doubt benefited from the Cardinals' Week 12 bye and seems to be trending in the right direction as Sunday's game against the Rams approaches. That said, even if Edmonds is available this weekend, what sort of role he might have is cloudy, with Kenyan Drake and David Johnson also in the team's backfield mix.

Not playing Sunday
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said that Edmonds (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Edmonds' absence for a third consecutive game paves the way for the tandem of Kenyan Drake and David Johnson to lead the backfield in Week 11. Per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com, Kingsbury declined to name a starter among the two healthy backs, instead noting that he would take a "committee" approach with Drake and Johnson, who are both expected to have packages on offense. The Cardinals' muddled backfield will become even cloudier if Edmonds is ready to play again coming out of Arizona's Week 12…read more

Remains sidelined at practice
Edmonds (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Yet again, Edmonds was listed as a DNP on the team's injury report, but in the part of Thursday's session open to the media, Edmonds was spotted working on the side, per Urban. Until he takes part in practice, Edmonds won't be a candidate to return to action, leaving him in danger of missing his third consecutive game Sunday in San Francisco. In that reality, Kenyan Drake and David Johnson will share the team's Week 11 backfield duties.

Held out Wednesday
Edmonds (hamstring) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Edmonds has made negligible progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury, missing every practice and two games since picking up the issue Week 8. With Kenyan Drake and David Johnson in their backfield, the Cardinals don't need to rush Edmonds through his rehab. Plus, the team has a bye after Sunday's game at Arizona, so it wouldn't surprise if Edmonds misses a third consecutive contest this weekend.

Out another week
Edmonds (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Edmonds was never expected to play and still hasn't returned to practice. It's unclear if he'll be a significant part of the backfield even after he gets healthy, considering the Cardinals also have David Johnson and Kenyan Drake. The team faces the 49ers in Week 11, followed by a bye in Week 12.

Misses another practice
Edmonds (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: With David Johnson (ankle) back to full health and Kenyan Drake in the fold, the Cardinals can opt for caution with Edmonds, who hasn't practiced since Oct. 25. If Edmonds misses a second consecutive contest Sunday at Tampa Bay, the aforementioned duo will be the team's top two running backs in some order with Zach Zenner in reserve.

No practice Wednesday
Edmonds (hamstring) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Meanwhile, David Johnson practiced fully and noted afterward he's "definitely playing" Sunday at Tampa Bay, per Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site. With Johnson past his ankle injury and Kenyan Drake coming off a dynamic debut with the team, the Cardinals can proceed cautiously with Edmonds. Still, a decision on Edmonds' Week 10 availability may not come until the end of the week.

Not expected back Week 10
Edmonds (hamstring) isn't expected to return for Week 10 against Tampa Bay, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: David Johnson (ankle) seems to be closer to making his return, and Kenyan Drake went off for 162 scrimmage yards in Thursday's 28-25 loss to the 49ers. Edmonds may still have a role in the backfield once he's healthy, but it sounds like that won't happen any sooner than Week 11, or perhaps after the Cardinals' Week 12 bye.
