Waived with injury settlement
The Cardinals waived Mauro (hamstring) off injured reserve Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Mauro signed a contract with the Cardinals in October of 2021 and, after three games, he landed on IR with a hamstring injury. Zach Allen likely will continue playing most of the defensive snaps for the Cardinals with Mauro off the team.

Back at practice
Mauro (hamstring) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday.
Analysis: Mauro has spent three weeks on IR, and he'll start preparing to be activated. The Cardinals have a 21-day window to activate the 29-year-old defensive end. If he's able to return this week against the Eagles, Mauro could handle a substantial workload because Jordan Phillips (hamstring) has already been ruled out.

Lands on injured reserve
Mauro was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury Saturday.
Analysis: Mauro joined the Cardinals during the bye week and had five tackles and one sack in a rotational role over the past three games, but he'll now be sidelined for at least the next three contests. Zach Allen (ankle), fresh off injured reserve, should fill the vacated snaps for Arizona.

Links up with Arizona
Mauro signed a contract with the Cardinals on Wednesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The 29-year-old was suspended for the first five games of the season, but he was let go by the Jaguars last week before appearing in a game. He then signed with Jacksonville's practice squad. Mauro provides depth on the defensive line with Zach Allen (ankle) moved to injured reserve and Jordan Phillips (hamstring) also less than 100 percent.

Let go by Jacksonville
Mauro was released from the exempt/commissioner permission list Thursday.
Analysis: Mauro recently completed his five-game suspension for violation of the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, but he was promptly placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list five days later. After starting seven times while recording 19 tackles for the Raiders in 2019, Mauro finds himself back on the free-agent market without having played a single game for Jacksonville.

Placed on COVID list
The Jaguars placed Mauro on the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday.
Analysis: Mauro had his suspension lifted Monday and was expected to return to the lineup for Sunday's matchup against the Lions, but now he'll need to clear the NFL's COVID-19 protocols before returning to team activities.

Completes suspension
Mauro completed his five-game suspension and was moved to the exempt/commissioner permission list Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: The 29-year-old was suspended for the first five games of the season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. Mauro will have a roster exemption until the Jaguars decide to add him to the active roster or cut him.

Suspended five games
Mauro has been suspended five games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substance policy, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Jaguars signed Mauro on Aug. 11 and were reportedly aware that the defensive end would be suspended. The 29-year-old was expected to play a rotational role anyway since Josh Allen and Yannick Ngakoue appear locked into starting roles while rookie first-round pick K'Lavon Chaisson could battle for consistent reps as well. Mauro is eligible to return Week 6 against the Lions.

Inks deal in Jacksonville
Mauro signed with the Jaguars on Tuesday.
Analysis: Mauro doesn't have a shot at winning a starting job over either Josh Allen or Yannick Ngakoue, but he's a solid depth option that has averaged at least 21 defensive snaps per game in each of the last four seasons. The 29-year-old defensive end will have a similar role in 2020.

Appears in 13 games
Mauro had 19 tackles (11 solo) and one pass break up in 13 games this season.
Analysis: The 28-year-old was a solid depth option for the Raiders across the defensive line, seeing a total of 285 defensive and 26 special teams snaps. Mauro will hit free agency this offseason, and he could be playing for the fourth team of his career in 2020.

Won't play Week 13
Mauro (coach's decision) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Analysis: Mauro has played just 31 total snaps the past two weeks for the Raiders, so this news isn't quite surprising. In his stead, look for Benson Mayowa and Dion Jordan to possibly see an uptick in depth defensive line reps.

No injury tag for Sunday
Mauro (groin) does not have an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Analysis: Mauro logged a full practice Friday after two limited ones preceding that. The 28-year-old will be back in the rotation at defensive end after missing two weeks with the issue.

On shelf against Chargers
Mauro (groin) is ruled out for Thursday's game against the Chargers.
Analysis: Mauro will sit out a second consecutive game after suffering a groin injury in Week 8's loss to the Texans. Before the injury, he worked in a reserve role behind Clelin Ferrell and Maxx Crosby, and recorded 11 tackles and a pass breakup.

No-go Sunday
Mauro (groin) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions.
Analysis: Mauro didn't suit up for practice in any fashion, so this news isn't quite surprising. Now that the Stanford product is officially inactive, Arden Key and Benson Mayowa are expected to be the primary beneficiaries to see a few more depth snaps on defense.

Considered questionable
Mauro (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Lions, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Mauro was unable to practice all week, so his questionable designation appears a little optimistic. If he does end up being unable to suit up, look for Arden Key and Benson Mayowa to see a few more snaps than usual providing depth at defensive end.
