Free agency likely
The Jaguars are expected to decline the team option for Eifert's contract in 2021, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Eifert was expected to earn slightly below $5 million in 2021, but now it looks like he will be entering free agency. He recorded 349 yards and two touchdowns across 15 games for Jacksonville in 2020. It was the 30-year-old's only season with the Jags after spending his first seven years in Cincinatti.

One reception in finale
Eifert caught one of two targets for 10 yards during Sunday's 28-14 loss to Indianapolis.
Analysis: It was a quiet finish to an underwhelming season for the 30-year-old, and he totaled 36 catches for 349 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games. The fact Eifert missed only one game is good news given his injury history, but it didn't lead to much production with the Jags. He could return to Jacksonville if the team exercises his $5 million club option for 2021, but the new front office and coaching staff may decide to go in a different direction.

Two catches Sunday
Eifert caught two of five targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 41-17 loss to the Bears.
Analysis: The 30-year-old tied for second on the team in targets, but he was unable to turn that production into anything worthwhile. There's simply no week-to-week consistency in Eifert's production, and he hasn't eclipsed 30 receiving yards in back-to-back games this season.

Sets season high in yards
Eifert caught three of four targets for 51 yards during Sunday's 40-14 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: It's the first time this season Eifert has gone over 50 receiving yards, with a 28-yard reception late in the third quarter accounting for most of the yardage. Even with Jacksonville trailing all afternoon and down 26-0 at halftime, the production in the aerial attack was modest. Eifert has 33 receptions for 322 yards and two touchdowns through 12 games, so his fantasy prospects remain limited heading into Week 16.

Avoids injury designation
Eifert (quadriceps/knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Baltimore.
Analysis: The 30-year-old never practiced fully at any point this week due to the two injuries, but neither will affect his availability for the game versus the Ravens. Though he's been Jacksonville's No. 1 tight end all season, Eifert has turned in a modest 30 receptions for 271 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games.

Practices in limited fashion
Eifert (quadriceps/knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Eifert's absence from practice Wednesday was characterized as a maintenance day, but the fact that he had two injuries listed alongside his name still makes his status worth tracking ahead of Sunday's game in Baltimore. While the tight end took a step forward by getting back on the practice field Thursday, he may need to put in a full workout Friday to avoid taking a designation into the weekend.

Nursing quad and knee injuries
Eifert received a scheduled day off at practice Wednesday and is listed on the Jaguars' official report with quadriceps and knee injuries.
Analysis: Eifert played through a shoulder issue in last week's loss to the Titans, and now he's dealing with a pair of new issues heading into Week 15. The veteran tight end has regularly received Wednesday off this season, so what he's able to do in practice Thursday and Friday will be more informative with regard to his status for Sunday's game in Baltimore.

Totals 22 yards
Eifert caught both his targets for 22 yards during Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: The 30-year-old played 45 of 71 offensive snaps but rarely was involved in the passing game despite Mike Glennon and Gardner Minshew combining for 54 pass attempts. Eifert's six catches for 45 yards Week 13 likely represents the ceiling for his weekly production in this offense.

Ready to play Sunday
Eifert (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Titans.
Analysis: Eifert was considered questionable due to the shoulder issue, but the injury won't prevent him from suiting up Sunday. The 30-year-old played a season-high 72 percent of the offensive snaps last week while catching six passes for 45 yards, and he'll continue to operate as Jacksonville's No. 1 tight end.

Questionable Week 14
Eifert (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The 30-year-old began the week not practicing, but he returned as a limited participant Thursday and earned the questionable tag. Eifert appears on track to play in Sunday's divisional matchup, though James O'Shaughnessy is in line to start if he can't suit up.

Upgrades to limited practice
Eifert (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, John Glennon of BroadwaySportsMedia.com reports.
Analysis: Eifert didn't practice in any capacity Wednesday, so bumping up to limited reps is a tangible step in the right direction. Of course, it's also worth noting that the veteran tight end has regularly had his practice activity managed this season. As long as he's able to practice in some capacity again Friday, Eifert should be in good shape to suit up for Sunday's game against the Titans.

Misses practice
Eifert didn't practice Wednesday due to a shoulder injury.
Analysis: In addition to the shoulder issue, Jacksonville's initial Week 14 practice report lists Eifert's absence as the result of a scheduled day off, so the veteran doesn't look to be dealing with anything too significant. If he's able to practice Thursday and Friday in some capacity, Eifert will be in good shape to play Sunday against the Titans.

Records six receptions
Eifert caught all six targets for 45 yards during Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: The six targets set a season high, as Mike Glennon targeted Eifert and his fellow tight ends (James O'Shaughnessy and Eric Saubert) 13 times. Jacksonville's tight ends haven't found much involvement in the passing game all season, but they played a significant role Week 13. Eifert could have more fantasy relevance for the closing stretch if that trend continues.

Secures second touchdown
Eifert caught three of four targets for 16 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 27-25 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: The 30-year-old had his usual minor involvement in the passing game with Mike Glennon starting at quarterback, and he had his first touchdown reception since Week 2. Still, it's not exactly an encouraging performance as the meager involvement came with wide receivers DJ Chark (ribs) and Chris Conley (hip) sidelined. Eifert is too dependent on touchdowns to be a consistent fantasy option outside the deepest leagues.

Good to go Week 12
Eifert (concussion) will play in Sunday's game against the Browns.
Analysis: Eifert made a speedy trip through the NFL's concussion protocol and will be available Sunday. The 30-year-old tight end has been underwhelming this season, failing to surpass 48 yards in a game and recording just one touchdown so far. Eifert still commands plenty of reps as the No. 1 option at the position, and he could see more looks in passing situations with wide receivers DJ Chark (ribs) and Chris Conley (hip) ruled out.

Practices fully
Eifert (concussion) practiced fully Thursday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Eifert was limited Wednesday, as he landed in the NFL's concussion protocol. Friday's final injury report of the week will clarify whether the tight end gains full medical clearance for Sunday's game against the Browns or heads into the weekend with a Week 12 injury designation.

In concussion protocol
Eifert was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a concussion.
Analysis: Coach Doug Marrone confirmed that Eifert is in the concussion protocol, with the tight end presumably having picked up the head injury in last week's loss to the Steelers. James O'Shaughnessy missed that game due to a knee issue, so the Jaguars could be severely lacking at tight end if Eifert isn't able to clear the league's five-step concussion protocol in time to play Sunday against the Browns.

Totals 32 yards
Eifert caught two of five targets for 32 yards during Sunday's 27-3 loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: The 30-year-old was tied for second on the team with five targets, but there wasn't much production to be had as quarterback Jake Luton needed 37 attempts to pass for 151 yards. Eifert remains Jacksonville's No. 1 tight end, but the fantasy value is minor as he has only 19 catches for 188 yards and one touchdown through nine games.

Clear of injury designation
Eifert (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Analysis: The 30-year-old was added to the injury report Thursday with the shoulder issue, but it won't affect his availability for Week 11. Eifert should continue to work as Jacksonville's top tight end, but he's averaging only 2.1 catches and 19.5 yards through eight games.

Nursing shoulder injury
Eifert was limited in Thursday's practice due to a shoulder injury.
Analysis: Eifert has regularly had his practice reps managed this season, so if he's able to practice in at least a limited capacity again Friday, he should have a good chance at suiting up Sunday against the Steleers. Backup tight end James O'Shaughnessy (knee) has already been ruled out for the Week 11 contest.

Hauls in two passes
Eifert caught two of four targets for 15 yards during Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: The 30-year-old was targeted only once heading into the fourth quarter, which resulted in an interception since he slipped while running the route. Eifert continues to operate as Jacksonville's No. 1 tight end, but he's mostly considered a dump-off option in the passing game. He has 17 catches for 156 yards and one touchdown in eight games and remains a touchdown-dependent fantasy option heading into Week 11.

Returns to make four catches
Eifert caught four of five targets for 48 yards during Sunday's 27-25 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Playing his first game in nearly a month due to a neck injury, Eifert set new season highs in catches and receiving yards. He appeared to have a nice rapport with new quarterback Jake Luton as he also tied his season high of 12.0 yards per catch. Despite this solid effort, Eifert is still far from a reliable fantasy asset heading into next Sunday's matchup with the Packers.

Full practice Thursday
Eifert (neck) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Sits out Wednesday's practice
Eifert (neck/rest) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Analysis: The 30-year-old tight end was scheduled to take a day off Wednesday anyway, but his absence remains noteworthy because he dealt with a neck injury prior to the Jaguars' Week 8 bye. Eifert is expected to be ready for Sunday's game versus the Texans, but he'll have just two practices to fine-tune his chemistry with rookie quarterback Jake Luton, who will be filling in for the injured Gardner Minshew (thumb).

Should return Week 9
Eifert (neck) is expected to play Sunday against the Texans, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Doug Marrone said last week the veteran tight end should be ready to play after the Jaguars' bye week, and he appears to be progressing as expected. Eifert may still be limited at practice this week, so there shouldn't be much cause for concern unless he's completely absent.

Likely to play after bye week
Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said Tuesday that he expects Eifert (neck) to be ready to play coming out of the team's Week 8 bye, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
Analysis: The impending bye week may have factored into the Jaguars' decision to hold Eifert out for Sunday's 39-29 loss to the Chargers after the tight end played just five snaps Week 6 against the Lions before aggravating a neck injury. With some extra time to heal up, Eifert should have a good chance at making it back to action for a Nov. 8 matchup with the Texans in Week 9. Through his six starts on the season, Eifert has reeled in 11 of 23 targets for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Sitting out Week 7
The Jaguars list Eifert (neck) as out for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Analysis: Eifert aggravated a lingering neck injury early in last week's loss to the Lions and hasn't shown much improvement in the days that followed, so the Jaguars will hold him out for the first time all season Sunday. With a bye on tap Week 8, Eifert should have sufficient time to move past the injury ahead of the team's next game, Nov. 8 versus the Texans. Expect James O'Shaughnessy to start at tight end and handle the bulk of the snaps at the position in Week 7.

Downgrades to DNP
Eifert (neck) didn't practice Thursday, per the league's official Week 7 injury report release.
Analysis: Eifert continues to nurse a neck injury sustained Week 5 against the Texans. He began the week as a limited participant Wednesday, so Thursday's complete lack of practice activity could simply be for load management purposes. If Eifert has instead suffered a setback in his recovery and misses Friday's session as well, James O'Shaughnessy could get an opportunity to start against the Chargers.

Limited during practice
Eifert (neck) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Eifert suffered the neck injury Week 5 against the Texans, but he was able to suit up in Sunday's loss to the Lions. That said, he ended up leaving that game early after aggravating the injury, finishing without a catch for the first time in six games this season. It's a positive sign that he's back on the field to start the practice week, but he'll still likely need to upgrade to full participation by Friday to avoid carrying a designation into this weekend's game against the Chargers.

Eifert was forced out of Sunday's game against the Lions due to a neck issue, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.

Good to go Week 6
Eifert (neck) is active for Sunday's game against the Lions, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Analysis: Eifert missed the Jaguars' first two practices of Week 6 due to a neck stinger, but his limited showing in Friday's session was enough for him to take a questionable tag into the weekend. The tight end apparently made enough progress in the subsequent two days to get the green light for Sunday, and he should be in store for a normal workload. Eifert has played between 56 and 68 of the offensive snaps in each of the team's five games to date, hauling in 11 of 23 targets for 96 yards and a score.

Questionable for Sunday
Eifert (neck) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Analysis: The 30-year-old was unable to practice the first two days of the week, but he apparently showed enough at Friday's session to earn the questionable tag. Eifert suffered a stinger during Week 5, and his status for Sunday's contest remains in question. Eifert (neck) didn't participate in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: With back-to-back absences from practice to begin Week 6 while he tends to a neck stinger, Eifert's availability for Sunday's game against the Lions looks to be firmly in question. Eifert (neck) won't participate in Wednesday's practice, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Analysis: Eifert has often received Wednesday practices off this season for maintenance-related reasons, but he'll be absent for the Jaguars' first session of Week 6 due to a legitimate injury. The tight end sustained a neck stinger during Sunday's 30-14 loss to the Texans and is presumably still in recovery mode, though the Jaguars are optimistic the issue won't force Eifert to miss time. Eifert (neck) suffered a stinger during Sunday's loss to the Texans but is not expected to miss time, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Eifert has a good chance to show up on Jacksonville's injury report this week, per Pelissero, but he's trending in the right direction for Sunday's upcoming contest against the Lions. Minor involvement Thursday
Eifert caught two of three targets for 11 yards during Thursday's 31-13 loss to Miami.
Analysis: Eifert led the team's tight ends with 40 offensive snaps and didn't find much involvement in the passing game despite the fact Jacksonville mostly played from behind Thursday. James O'Shaughnessy officially received the start but played only 27 offensive snaps, though he caught three of four targets for 29 yards. Eifert remains the Jaguars' top tight end, but his six catches for 55 yards and one touchdown through three games illustrates the difficulty in utilizing him as a fantasy option.

Reaches end zone in loss
Eifert caught three of six targets for 36 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's loss to the Titans.
Analysis: The Jaguars didn't have any standout performances from pass catchers Sunday as QB Gardner Minshew spread the love and completed at least three passes to eight different receivers. Eifert was targeted only once in the season opener but was much more involved Week 2, as was fellow tight end James O'Shaughnessy (four catches for 40 yards). Neither player is a primary option in the passing game and both are unlikely to provide much week-to-week consistency.

Catches one pass in opener
Eifert secured his only target for eight yards during Sunday's 27-20 win over the Colts.
Analysis: The 30-year-old received the start Week 1, but he played only 28 of 50 offensive snaps in his Jacksonville debut. Eifert saw more playing time than fellow tight ends James O'Shaughnessy (20 snaps) and Ben Ellefson (13), but the position group was largely uninvolved against the Colts. Eifert is the favorite to see the bulk of the snaps Week 2, but that doesn't mean he should be on the fantasy radar for most leagues.

Analysis: The 29-year-old was expected to open the season as the starter, but James O'Shaughnessy apparently had a better showing in camp and earned the job. Eifert appeared in all 16 games and caught 43 of 63 targets for 436 yards and three touchdowns in 2019 with the Bengals, but he's unlikely to replicate those numbers in 2020 without moving up the depth chart.

Analysis: Eifert was rumored to be in talks with the Jaguars earlier in the day, and the two sides did in fact come to an agreement. The veteran will reunite with his former offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, who was on the staff in Cincinnati from 2011-13. Could sign with Jacksonville

Analysis: This is the first report we've seen on Eifert, who quietly is coming off the only 16-game season of his career. Of course, a part-time role helped him make it through the year without any serious injuries, but it also limited his production to a 43-436-3 receiving line on 63 targets (10.1 yards per catch, 6.9 per target). Limited Week 17 snaps
Eifert had two catches on two targets for 34 yards in the Bengals' Week 17 win over the Browns. He was on the field for only 27 offensive snaps.
Analysis: With the Bengals playing with a rare lead, they were able to run the ball more often, which meant less time for Eifert. He enters his walk year having made it through a full season without injury, catching 43 passes for 436 yards and three touchdowns.

Miracle catch in OT loss
Eifert brought in four of eight targets for 57 yards and a game-tying touchdown in the Bengals' 38-35 overtime loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. He also caught a two-point conversion pass.
Analysis: Long known for his nose for the end zone, Eifert came down with one of the bigger touchdown receptions of his career when he hauled in a desperation Andy Dalton heave into the end zone as time expired in regulation to bring Cincinnati within two points. Prior to that, Eifert had secured an important two-point conversion catch following a Tyler Boyd three-yard touchdown grab, bringing the Bengals to within one possession. Another improbable feat Eifert has managed this season has been good…read more

Displays some aerial gymnastics
Eifert caught three of five targets for 44 yards during Sunday's 34-13 loss to New England.
Analysis: Eifert made a pair of leaping catches during Sunday's blowout loss for gains of 19 and 24 yards. The veteran tight end has topped 40 yards in back-to-back games with Andy Dalton back under center, which doesn't sound like much until you realize that he had just one such performance during the season's first 12 games. Sunday brings a matchup against a struggling Miami defense in a game that will have major draft-day implications. Even with an uptick in production and a poor opponent, Eifert is a…read more

Decent in Sunday's loss
Eifert caught all four of his targets for 49 yards in Sunday's loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Eifert was on the field for 35 snaps, frequently together with C.J. Uzomah, after playing in the mid-20's each of the previous four weeks. Neither tight end has been able to find consistent fantasy value in a shaky Bengals offense this season.

Hauls in one pass
Eifert caught one of two targets for 12 yards during Sunday's win against the Jets.
Analysis: Andy Dalton returning under center appeared to provide a glimmer of hope for Eifert's fantasy prospects, but he was instead barely involved in the offense (25 snaps). C.J. Uzomah, however, saw 47 plays on offense while catching five of six targets for 51 yards. Uzomah has played 163 snaps to Eifert's 93 over the last four games, but Sunday was the first display of worthwhile production for either player since Eifert caught a touchdown Week 10.

Disappointing usage
Eifert had one catch for seven yards on his only target in Sunday's loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: After a really nice game before the bye, and then two games in a row with four targets, this game was a bitter disappointment. The news that Andy Dalton is taking back over at quarterback does give some cause for hope for Eifert this week against the Jets.

Plays in 10th game
Eifert tallied three receptions on four targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Raiders.
Analysis: This was Eifert's 10th game of the season, as he reached the mark for the first time since the 2015 season. Eifert's been unfortunate in the injury arena over the past few years, but now that he's healthy, it's clear the 29-year-old isn't the tight end he used to be. Eifert finished behind C.J. Uzomah in snaps for the second straight week, recording 23 to Uzomah's 38, and he's averaging 2.8 receptions for 23 yards per game this year.

Snaps scoreless streak
Eifert caught two of four targets for 20 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 49-13 loss to Baltimore.
Analysis: With the Bengals down by multiple scores just before halftime, rookie Ryan Finley floated a six-yard pass near the front pylon and into the arms of Eifert for the quarterback's first career touchdown. The score was Eifert's first since Week 2 in a season that has gotten away from the Bengals under first-year head coach Zac Taylor. With the top overall pick of the 2020 draft within sight, the Bengals figure to roll with Finley down the stretch and a big, reliable tight end like Eifert figures to…read more
